Oxicodone like erectile disfunction drugs and ADHD drugs contain opiates from opium poppies. Some of of production of poppies come from Afghanistan and it is one of the reasons we are there. The US consumption of opiates is the highest in the world. See some my early posts.

Poppies and Legal Drugs

Some legal drugs and even over the counter drugs contain Poppy derivatives. The derivatives are used in legal narcotics such as oxycodone, hydroxycodone, codeine, morphine; and other drugs including drugs used for erectile dysfunction, ADHD, depressions and colds.

The US has moved into Helmand Province in Afghanistan to protect the poppy (Papaver somniferum) fields of licensed farmers who sell their crops to pharmaceutical companies.

The US is leading world consumption of morphine with 55 mg/year/capita, Europe consumes 25 mg and Japan about 1 mg. The profits to be made on such dependence are in billions of dollars; for every 29 kg (70 pounds) of morphine a profit of $8800 is made (Poppy for Medecine).

The shortage and demand for poppies make for high profits. http://www.poppyformedicine.net/

"Webb’s juxtaposition of spending on Afghanistan and the state of things in the United States – a stalled economy, stubborn unemployment, an aging infrastructure – is made more often in online debates and private conversations than in official hearings. But it is a subtext for a debate likely to grow in the campaign for the 2012 elections and feature both Afghanistan and Iraq as money pits, object lessons for ill-conceived development projects, and lack of foresighted planning."

Millions of feet cubed of water has been used to try to keep the reactors at Fukushima cool

Just to get an idea of the amount of water used by Tepco in the past 3 months to try to cool the reactors and spent fuel pools, I decided to look at the numbers, and they are monumental. Unit 1 is as of June 5  injected with water at the rate of 5m3/hr, unit 2 at 5 m3/h, and unit 3 at 11.5 m3/h (these numbers are substantially lower than they have been and go up and down, and we don't have a rate of water spraying of the spent fuel pools, so the number will be lower than the actual ft3 in three months.

Here is the math 5 +5 +11.5 = 21.5m3/h X 24 hours/day (3 X 30 days) = 46, 440 m3/3 months now for the Americans:

46,440 m3 = 1,640,013 ft3 and the actual number is at least 3 times that number.  for example my living room is 17 X 13 X 9 = 1989 ft3 they filled up my living room at least 825 times.

It is physically impossible for Tepco to contain this monumental amount of water; therefore there is a continual flow into the ocean.
