France is moving its citizens out of Japan. This is clearly telling us that the disaster has reached a very catastrophic proportion and is unlikely to resolve quickly. It seems that the plant will have to be encased in concrete; although this will never fully contain the problem, as shown with the sarcophagus around Chernobyl. In the mid time, the plume is suppose to reach California tomorrow and Europe next week.
In short:
- 6 reactors have been in trouble
- steam is clearly escaping from the plant
- rods in the pool of unit four have been completely exposed to air: this implies that some meltdown has occurred.
- There has been four explosions that we know of.
- Radiation has been very high near and around the plant, and radiation is now worrisome in Tokyo or 150 miles away.
- the first spat of radiation is reaching other countries.
Welcome!
